Data holds more value than money: Expert
Lucknow, Aug. 23 -- Experts gathered at a cybercrime awareness workshop in Noida on Friday to discuss the critical importance of cyber audits, the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, and data security.
During the event, experts warned that future data theft incidents could result in penalties of up to Rs 250 crore. Attendees included GK Goswami, founder director of the Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Science, additional CP Ajay Kumar, as well as entrepreneurs, banking sector representatives, RWAs, social workers and police personnel.
Speaking at the workshop, GK Goswami emphasised that in today's world, data holds more value than money. He stressed the need for increased vigilance when sharing personal details online. He further explained that data audits are expected to become as mandatory as financial audits, and digital insurance may become a necessity, similar to crop, health, or fire insurance. He also touched upon futuristic concepts like DNA Kundli, highlighting potential new opportunities in genetic analysis.
A key highlight of the session was the state's proactive approach, having already established 13 forensic cabinets and deployed mobile forensic vans across all 75 districts.
