Meerut, Aug. 20 -- A major case of financial fraud has emerged in Sambhal, where crores of rupees were transacted through the bank account of a painter earning only Rs.400 a day. The matter came to light when Din Dayal Kori, a resident of Sambhal Gate locality in Chandausi, received a legal notice from the Tumakuru court in Karnataka, demanding payment of Rs.91,206. Startled by the notice, Din Dayal rushed to his bank, where he was informed that crores of rupees had been transacted through his and his wife, Meena's, accounts. Following this revelation, the bank froze both accounts. Investigations showed that unknown persons had used the accounts to receive money online from different states, including Karnataka, before transferring it further. Even Rs.50,000 from a group loan deposited in Meena's account was fraudulently withdrawn. According to the police, a local man named Rishipal posed as a bank employee and gained Din Dayal's trust by helping him secure a Rs.10,000 loan from a self-help group. Later, he took Din Dayal's ATM card, chequebook, and signatures on several documents. He even changed the registered mobile number linked to the account. For a few months, loan installments were paid regularly, but when they stopped, Din Dayal assumed they had been waived off. The truth surfaced only when the Karnataka court notice arrived. "I earn just Rs.300-400 a day. I am illiterate, how can I commit fraud?" Din Dayal told the police. "Rishipal took all the documents from me and my wife, saying he would arrange everything. I didn't know what was happening. I will fight this case till the end. " Cyber crime in-charge Amit Kumar confirmed that a case has been registered against Rishipal Yadav and some unidentified accomplices. "The complaint has been taken up, and accounts have been frozen. The matter is under investigation, and action will be taken based on the findings," he said. Meanwhile, Din Dayal, his wife Meena, and their two children-12-year-old Rinku and 10-month-old Shalini-continue to live in their modest 20-yard home, hoping for justice in a case that has turned their lives upside down....
