Cyberattack attempted on Doon defence unit
Dehradun, May 17 -- Dehradun police has registered a first information report against an unidentified person for attempting cyber-attack on a military police control room in Dehradun, a police official said. Suspicious messages, including references to India, and Pakistan, and APK files were received on its system on May 4 and May 5 to gain access to the security unit, the police said.
The FIR was registered at Clement Town police station under relevant sections of the Information Technology (Amendment) Act, 2008 on Wednesday.Colonel Muzammil Ahmad in his complaint said messages and APK files were received in the military police control room of 14 Infantry Division Provost Unit on May 4 and 5. In the complaint, he said on the first day, several incomplete messages and APK files were sent, including references to India and Pakistan. On the second day, another APK file was sent under the name "New SOP and Policy May-2025." However, this file was not downloaded.
"The fraudster tried to obtain unit security through these suspicious messages," he said.
Sandeep Kumar, in charge at Clement Town police station, said, "We have registered the FIR and our investigation into the matter is underway."...
