PRAYAGRAJ, June 21 -- Cyber tricksters duped a woman of Rs 55 lakh in the name of investment to make profit. The woman, a resident of Transport Nagar, has lodged an FIR against three named and other unknown persons in the Cyber Crime police station. According to a complaint of the victim Aradhana Tripathi of Transport Nagar in Prayagraj on November 29, 2024, she was added in a whatsapp group allegedly having Krishna Iyer, executive director of Angel One company and his assistant Mini Nair, the latter having added her to the WhatsApp group. In the group, as per the complaint, Mini Nair gave information about the investment scheme and advised to buy shares. Another person, Ajit, customer service manager of his company, first got an app downloaded on her mobile. The victim was made to deposit Rs 1 lakh for the first time in the company's app. After this, a total of Rs 55 lakh was transferred to different bank accounts in several installments. When Aradhana tried to withdraw the money, the accused froze the account saying that the commission fee had to be paid. Sensing fraud Aradhana Tripathi informed the Cyber Cell police about the same and submitted a written complaint of what she went through. Cyber Cell police station in-charge Rajiv Tiwari said that a case has been registered against three named and other unknown persons and the matter was being investigated. The Special Task Force (STF) Lucknow has arrested two men involved in selling fake mobile SIM cards to cyber criminals from Prayagraj. The accused were caught in Lalgopalganj before the STF headed to Chitrakoot. The Chitrakoot police had offered a reward of Rs 25,000 for information leading to the arrest of one of the accused, Sandeep Pandey. The police recovered several items from the two men, including four mobile phones, 36 Aadhaar cards, 239 unused blank SIM cards, three ATM cards, a driving licence, an election card, two PAN cards, three biometric scanners, and Rs 6,620 in cash. On Wednesday afternoon, the STF raided Lalgopalganj and arrested Sandeep Pandey, from Suniyanwa Ghasi Ka Purwa in Pratapgarh district, and Naufil, from Malaka Rajakpur. During questioning, Sandeep Pandey admitted that he sold SIM cards to an organised gang by taking distributorship from telecom companies and misusing customers' IDs....
