PRAYAGRAJ, Nov. 7 -- Cyber fraudsters extorted Rs 2 lakh from an LLB student on the pretext of providing a loan, under Atarsuiya police station area of Prayagraj. The fraudsters first called the victim offering her loan. The scamsters then threatened to edit her photo and make it viral on social media if she did not give money in multiple installments. Based on student's complaint, an FIR has been filed and police are investigating the case. As per reports, the student reported that a few days ago, she saw a loan app on her mobile phone and clicked on it. After some days, she began receiving repeated calls, offering various inducements to secure a loan. The fraudsters tricked her into asking for her photo and then deposited some money into her bank account. A few days later, the fraudsters began blackmailing her and threatening to edit her photo with AI and make it viral if she objected to their demands. The student continued to pay the money for a few days. Despite this, the fraudsters' demands persisted. When she informed her family, they also sent her money. The demands of tricksters ended only after they had extorted approximately Rs 2 lakh.
