Dehradun, June 14 -- The Uttarakhand special task force along with Kumaon cyber cell busted an inter-state cyber fraud network being operated from a homestay in Nainital district and arrested six accused, a police official said on Friday.
"The accused created fake gaming websites and used various bank accounts, forged SIM cards, and digital tools to carry out large-scale cyber frauds. Our investigation revealed that the gang operated from a remote homestay in Amritpur, Kathgodam in Nainital, where laptops and phones were used to receive and transfer money obtained through fraudulent means. The gang received bank account details and OTPs through Telegram and WhatsApp groups," said Navneet Singh, STF senior superintendent of police (SSP).
"Upon receiving credible inputs, our team conducted a raid at the homestay on Thursday where the accused were found using laptops and phones to carry out online scams," he said.
The police also recovered 6 laptops, 23 high-end mobile phones, 17 SIM cards, and details of 9 bank accounts with barcode scanners, Wi-Fi devices, and ATM cards, the officer said....
