PRAYAGRAJ, May 6 -- A unique case has been reported in Prayagraj about cyber fraud committed for providing an advanced course in Cyber Security. Interestingly, the victim, a resident of Georgetown area of the city, is himself a PG student in cyber security from Boston University and is an engineer by profession. On the complaint of the victim's mother, the police have registered an FIR in Georgetown police station and are engaged in investigation. According to the complaint Reena Bose, her son Pratik Bose used to work in Kolkata for about eight years after doing B.Tech from Kalinga University, Odisha. After this, he went to Boston to complete a post graduate course in Cyber Security. To upgrade himself in the field, Pratik searched on the website for advanced course in Cyber Security and came across Quantum World Technologies Inc. Company providing online advanced cyber security course from India. As per the FIR, Pratik received a call on his mobile from one Archit Srivastava, resident of Lucknow. Archit lured Pratik with an offer for advanced course in cyber security at a low price. Introducing himself as a manager in Quantum World Technologies Inc. Company, Lucknow, Archit made Pratik deposit Rs 1.75 lakh online in his bank account in September 2023 for availing the course. However, after lapse of three months since the payment of fees, when Pratik complained about delay in starting of the advanced course, Archit asked him to deposit Rs 10,000 in the name of registration fee. However, the course did not begin for more than a year. In January 2025, Pratik was again asked by the accused to deposit Rs 1000 in the name of re-registration form fee, saying that the company had changed and a new online batch will start from April 15. Suspecting foul, Prateek informed his mother from Boston, to lodge an FIR. SHO George Town police station Santosh Singh said that on the basis of the complaint, a named FIR had been registered against Hazratganj, Lucknow resident Archit Srivastava alias Archit Nandan and police was further investigating the case. Police have arrested a young man for murder of a 60-year-old woman who was strangled to death while sleeping alone in her home in Kaushambi district. The arrest was made following an investigation into the incident, which took place on the night of April 27. The victim, Sundar Devi, a resident of Dinau Ka Purwa in Naudhiya village under Sangramgarh Police Station, was reportedly killed after she refused to comply with the accused's inappropriate demands. According to police, the complaint was lodged by Avinash, the victim's grandson, who lives in Salon Veerbhanapur, Rae Bareli. A case was initially registered against an unknown person. During the investigation, police gathered evidence pointing to one Kanhai Saroj, a youth from the same village, as the prime suspect.
