Agra, June 8 -- The three-year-old girl had barely attended school for a week before it closed for the summer vacation and she was eagerly waiting for the new term to begin.

But fate had something else in store for this child.

The girl went missing on May 30 and her mutilated body was found on June 2 from a garbage dump near her house in Tappal, around 50km from Aligarh, sparking widespread condemnation and protests in the area.

Two men - Zahid and Aslam - were arrested in connection with the crime against the child.
