LUCKNOW, Sept. 2 -- A research project aimed at improving recovery outcomes after brain surgery has been sanctioned by the Council of Science and Technology (CST) for professors of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), Lucknow. The project, titled 'Accurate assessment of brain expansion after decompression craniectomy surgery using deep learning and artificial intelligence', has received funding of Rs 13.08 lakh. It will be led by Pawan Kumar Tiwari of the department of computer science and engineering, with co-researcher Ashutosh from the department of neurosurgery, Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS). Alongside this, CST has also cleared two other projects by IET professors. One will analyse the flow dynamics of Newtonian and non-Newtonian industrial fluids through modelling and simulation using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Led by RP Ram, professor and head of the chemical engineering department, it aims to support optimal design of engineering devices. htc...
