Criminals hold Woman hostage, loot jewellery worth Rs.18 lakh
Prayagraj, Sept. 23 -- Criminals robbed jewellery worth Rs.18 lakh and Rs.6,000 in cash after holding a woman hostage in Veerkaji village under the IFFCO police outpost in the Phulpur Kotwali area on Sunday night.
The robbers entered the house of Mohammad Shahid, a transport company area manager, by using a ladder to climb into the courtyard. They held his wife, Afreen Fatima, at knifepoint and forced her to hand over her gold and silver jewellery, along with cash from a cupboard.
The criminals threatened to kill her if she did not cooperate. They stole about 16 tolas of gold, some silver items, and Rs.6,000 in cash before fleeing the scene. Once the robbers left, Afreen shouted for help. Police from the IFFCO outpost arrived shortly after and began their investigation.
In a separate incident the same night, thieves targeted another house at Mahulia crossing in Phulpur police station area. They broke into the home of Rakesh Kumarand stole valuables worth several lakh rupees, including three laptops. htc...
