GORAKHPUR, Jan. 11 -- At a time when the issue of acid attacks is in the limelight as a Deepika Padukone-starrer movie on an acid attack survivor has just hit the theatre, the bitter memories of losing three young daughters over 12 years ago still haunt their parents in busy Ghasikatra locality of the city. On the fateful night in December 2007, Bindu, 14, Chhoti, 10, and Pinki, 7,-three daughters of Meera Devi and Madhusudan Gupta-suffered severe burns when one Asghar alias Raju, a local who would often come to meet Gupta's tenants, poured acid as the parents of the victim girls did not allow him to talk to their daughters as and when he tried to do so. The girls, after battling death for a month-and-a-half, they succumbed. Today their mother Meera Devi, who ekes out a living by stitching clothes at home as her husband suffered paralysis some years ago, complains of not getting much help. "Media covers such incidents but no one comes to help. Several people, including a top industrialist, had promised to help us but none except Maharaj Ji (CM Yogi Adityanath) came forward to help us. As the then MP of Gorakhpur, he stood firmly by us in the time of crisis by helping us financially and even arranging a lawyer to help us fight the case," says Meera. The Gupta couple also look after their five grand kids.Abdul jadid...
