VARANASI, Oct. 14 -- BHU vice-chancellor Prof Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi said that creativity is the mother of all new discoveries and disciplines. He recalled the vision of Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Ji, noting that the seed sown in 1916 has today grown into a vast tree flourishing in every field of education and culture. Prof Chaturvedi emphasized that introducing students from other disciplines to art forms like dance and music would cultivate a new perspective of creativity in their lives. Highlighting the relationship between science and art, he remarked that creativity is the mother of all new discoveries and disciplines. He was speaking at the inaugural session of a two-day national seminar on "Gata and Gata Bhava in Kathaka Dance : Tradition and Challenges" which he inaugurated at BHU. Department of Dance, Faculty of Performing Arts, is hosting the seminar at the Pt Omkarnath Thakur Auditorium of the Faculty of Performing Arts. During the inaugural session, the cover of a book titled "Ghunghru", authored by Prof Vidhi Nagar, head, Department of Dance, along with her two research scholars Amrit Mishra and Ragini Kalyan, was also released. The book presents an extensive discussion on the history of the Ghunghru, its sound-producing scientific methodology, its place in Indian dance culture, its global significance, and its depiction in cinema. Appreciating the book, the vice-chancellor said that this scientifically written work will enhance public understanding of the art of dance. In the same session, Prof Purnima Pandey, former vice-chancellor, Bhatkhande Sanskriti University; Prof Mandavi Singh, vice-chancellor, Bhatkhande Sanskriti University; Vidushi Manisha Sathe (Banaras Gharana); and Vidushi Rekha Thakkar (Jaipur Gharana) were conferred with the Kaustubh Kala Ratna Award.htc...
