Crackdown on LPG black marketing intensifies in u.p.
LUCKNOW, March 18 -- The crackdown on LPG black marketing continued in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, signalling a dual strategy to stabilise supply and curb illegal practices. Acting on the directives of chief minister Yogi Adityanath, authorities have carried out 5,813 inspections and raids across the state between March 12 and 17.
The enforcement drive led to FIRs against 12 LPG distributors, 74 FIRs against individuals involved in black marketing and 11 arrests. Besides, prosecution proceedings against 85 individuals were also initiated. Officials said the drive is going on with district-level authorities instructed to remain vigilant and act swiftly against any irregularities. Meanwhile, the government maintains that fuel supply remains stable. Officials claim that cylinder deliveries are being made in line with bookings by 4,108 LPG distributors in UP and that adequate stock is available.
To maintain market balance, the Centre has also permitted allocation of commercial LPG cylinders up to 20% of total consumption. To ensure tighter supervision, a round-the-clock control room has been set up at the food commissioner's office. This facility is monitoring real-time distribution of petroleum products and addressing complaints promptly.
