Bharatpur/Tonk, Aug. 12 -- The bodies of three cousins who drowned in a pond in Tonk district were handed over to their families after post-mortem on Monday, police said. The tragedy occurred on Sunday evening in Saundhifal village under Jhirana police station limits, where the three teenagers had taken their cattle to a nearby pond, said police. According to police, Ankesh Bairwa entered the pond to bring out buffaloes that had not emerged from the water. When he began to drown, his cousins Vikas Bairwa and Sunil Bairwa jumped in to rescue him but also drowned in the deep water. Hearing their screams, Rajesh Bairwa, father of one of the boys, leapt into the pond but was unable to save them, police said, adding that villagers who later reached the spot pulled out the bodies.
