Court grants anticipatory bail to cyber crime accused
PRAYAGRAJ, July 27 -- The Allahabad high court has granted anticipatory bail to one Vivek Jaiswal who is accused of committing cyber crime fraud worth several crores of rupees. The Azamgarh Police had busted a gang of cyber criminals who committed the fraud by organising an online game 'Cricket Buzz'. An FIR in this connection was lodged at Azamgarh's cybercrime police station under various sections of Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Public Gambling Act and the IT Act in 2024.Later, the police had arrested eight people in this connection from Varanasi and other places. Apprehending his arrest, petitioner Vivek Jaiswal of Azamgarh moved an anticipatory bail application. He alleged that he had been falsely implicated in the case and there was every likelihood that police would arrest him.
After hearing both sides, Justice Gautam Chowdhary on July 23 granted anticipatory bail to Vivek Jaiswal, saying that in case of arrest, he will be released on bail. Azamgarh Police had busted an organised gang involved in cyber fraud under the guise of an online game and arrested seven members of the gang. The gang had committed cyber fraud of around Rs 95 crore from 208 bank accounts, in which Rs 1 crore was frozen.
Seven members of the gang were arrested from Pandeypur in Badalpur police station area of Varanasi and from elsewhere. The gang used to lure people to log on to a website through WhatsApp, Telegram and Facebook by promising to double or triple the money through online games/tasks....
