PRAYAGRAJ, May 13 -- The Allahabad High Court in a special sitting on Sunday dismissed a parole plea filed by Vijay Mishra, an advocate and accused in the Umesh Pal murder case. Mishra had sought short-term bail to perform his mother's last rites. However, state counsel informed the court that the funeral took place on May 11 and was attended by his brothers. Justice Sanjay Kumar Singh observed that the plea had lost relevance. The court also noted the risk of Mishra absconding, citing his criminal history and the fact that co-accused Shaista Parveen and Guddu Muslim remain absconding.
