Cough syrup nexus: Day after arrest, kingpin'sfather being brought to UP
VARANASI, Dec. 2 -- The father of the main accused in the codeine-based cough syrup nexus is being brought to Uttar Pradesh in connection with the probe after a Kolkata court granted his transit remand to the Sonbhadra police, officials said on Monday.
Bhola Prasad Jaiswal, the father of the main accused Shubham Jaiswal, was arrested from Kolkata on Sunday.
After his arrest, the Sonbhadra police team filed an application in a Kolkata court, which granted the plea on Monday.
Confirming the development, Circle officer, Sonbhadra Sadar, Randhir Mishra said, "The accused Bhola Prasad Jaiswal is being brought to Sonbhadra on transit remand. He will be questioned here. The police team bringing the accused will reach Sonbhadra on Tuesday."
Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Varanasi police plans to seek remand of Bhola Prasad Jaiswal and will file an application in court in this connection. The SIT will question Bhola Prasad, a senior officer said.
The three-member SIT led by ADCP Saravanan T is looking to uncover the full nexus and identify others involved in the illegal activity. A case was registered against Bhola Prasad and Shubham in Varanasi in mid-November after their names surfaced in the probe.
