Contrasting wins mark Day 2 in sub-junior hockey
LUCKNOW, April 8 -- Jaman Lal Sharma XI and Rehman XI notched up contrasting wins even on the second day of the 2nd Fazlur Rehman Memorial Sub-Junior Hockey Tournament here on Tuesday.
Whereas Jaman Lal Sharma XI defeated Bulal Ganguli XI by 2-0, Rehman XI defeated KD Singh Babu XI by 3-1, at the CB Gupt Khel maidan. In the first match of the day, Saksham and Tarun scored in the 36th and 49th minutes, respectively.
But there were some exciting moments in another match of the day as Rehman XI even after being pushed ahead by a goal from Anwar in the 18th minute, had to concede a goal by Ritwik in the 34th minute (1-all). But thereafter, Arpit and Yash scored a goal each in the 41st and 47th minutes to complete the formality for the winners.
On Wednesday, KD Singh Babu XI take on Gandhi Club in the first match of the day at 3.30 p.m, whereas Mohd Shahid XI meet Bula Ganguli XI in the second match at v4.45 p.m.
In the Super Golden League Basketball Tournament, at the Royal Sports Ganj Stadium (RSG), VidyaGyan School clinched the championship trophy with thrilling victories in both the U-12 and U-14 finals.
Among the matches played during the event, VidyaGyan School claimed the title in the thrilling U-14 final by defeating Elite 10-9 in a match that went into overtime. Meanwhile, in the U-12 final, VidyaGyan School defeated Janta Inter College 8-5 to secure the trophy.
Additionally, in the Senior Women's category final, Four Warriors defeated GD Goenka 6-5 in a highly exciting contest. Furthermore, several national and international players also participated in the tournament. Among them, international player Vijay Parmar and Railways' player Pulkit Sachdeva, playing for ABA Ballers in the U-21 boys ' category, registered a splendid victory by defeating GD Goenka 6-1. In the U-17 final, the Elite team won the title by defeating the Swiss Squad 9-4.
CAL Kings and CAL Lions scored wins in the Rohit Chaturvedi Memorial Cricket Tournament for AP Sports Trophy here on Tuesday.
CAL Lions registered a 14-run victory over CAL Olive at the Blaze Willow Cricket Academy Ground. Batting first in a 25-over match, CAL Lions posted a total of 144/6 . Anmol Goyal struck the highest 32 runs. For CAL Olive, Fazil Ahmed Khan claimed three wickets. In reply, CAL Olive could only manage to score 130/8. Kushagra scored 36 runs, while Shashi Prakash took two wickets. Anmol was named the Player of the Match.
At the SMR Cricket Academy in Matiyari, CAL Kings defeated CAL Dragons by 40 runs.. Batting first, CAL Kings posted a total of 162/4. Anurag Dwivedi played a stellar innings, scoring 74 runs. Kumar Abhyuday claimed two wickets. In reply, Avyan Sahay (25) and Saharsh Vats (23) of CAL Dragons put up a spirited fight, but could score 122. Shaurya Kailash Pandey and Anurag Dwivedi claimed two wickets each. For his all-round performance, Anurag was named the Player of the Match....
