VARANASI, July 28 -- : A delegation of employees of Rajya Karmachari Sanyukt Parishad's Samvida Karmachari Nagariya Parivahan Sewayen, Uttar Pradesh, met Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee president Ajay Rai on Sunday. In a letter handed over to Rai on the occasion, the members of the delegation said a fleet of 130 buses was given to Varanasi city transport in 2010 for operation in public interest. Around 500 people got employment opportunities in these buses. But after completion of 15 years of registration, the buses were stopped and in place of them, electronic buses were introduced, which are being operated by a private company. As a result, 500 people, who were employed with the fleet of 130 buses introduced in 2010, are unemployed now. Rai said a delegation of contractual urban transport employees met him. He further said the Congress will send a memorandum to the UP chief minister and the Centre, demanding reinstatement of and financial assistance to the those rendered unemployed. "This is not just a matter of unemployment - it is a question of justice, compassion and social responsibility. We assure all the contractual employees that the Congress Party and I personally are with them in their struggle and will try to provide them every possible legal, social and political help," the state Congress chief said....
