LUCKNOW, July 27 -- The Samajwadi Party on Saturday observed 'Reservation Day' as 'Samvidhan Manastambh Sthapna Diwas' at its district and metropolitan offices across the state. On the occasion, the SP chief Akhilesh Yadav said, "By organising the 'Samvidhan Manastambh Sthapna Diwas' in the presence of a copy of the Constitution of India, we are reiterating our resolve to protect and maintain 'social justice', equality and reservation. The basic sentiment behind this is that 'Samvidhan Manastambh' should always illuminate and pave the way for our resolve to establish the rule of social justice in the form of 'PDA Prakashastambh'. Reservation will survive only when the Constitution survives. The Constitution is the shield, the Constitution is the armor." In Lucknow, a programme was held at the SP district office in the Qaiserbagh area, in which around 1,000 workers participated. Former cabinet minister Ram Govind Chaudhary and former MP Annu Tandon and Lucknow district chief Faqir Siddiqui were also present, accompanied by other senior party leaders.
