Constable held for alleged cattle smuggling links
VARANASI, April 14 -- A constable wanted in a cattle smuggling case in Chandauli was arrested from Ambedkar Nagar by the Chandauli police, officials said. The accused was identified as constable Satyendra Yadav, who was posted at a police station in Chandauli and is currently under suspension, a police officer said.
His alleged involvement came to light after the recent arrest of a cattle smuggler, Shyam Babu, in a case registered at Illiya police station in Chandauli. During questioning, the smuggler told police that Yadav was in contact with him and other members of the network. He allegedly helped them by ensuring safe passage for vehicles carrying cattle. Superintendent of police, Chandauli, Akash Patel confirmed the arrest. He said Yadav was picked up from Palai Bazaar in the Sammanpur area of Ambedkar Nagar, where he had been living and was allegedly involved in illegal activities.
The officer added that the constable had been absent from duty for several days. Police said Yadav's name had also surfaced in another cattle smuggling case registered at Saiyadraja police station, after which they suspended him. Further investigation is under way, officials said.htc...
