LUCKNOW, Jan. 29 -- Governor Anandiben Patel said that the present era is changing rapidly, and we must always be ready to adopt change. "AI is the need of the hour. While AI has positive applications, its misuse is also increasing. Therefore, children must be encouraged to use AI correctly, and those misusing it must be punished," Patel said speaking on Wednesday as a new facility, 'Knowledge on Sphere' and Science Expo-2026, was inaugurated at the Regional Science City by Brajesh Pathak, deputy chief minister. She urged efforts to connect poor and resource-deprived children to education through AI. Pathak experienced the Knowledge on Sphere (KOS) facility and lauded it as a unique and innovative medium for science communication and emphasised that such platforms play a crucial role in nurturing scientific curiosity among children and youth. "The KOS will have projections of various scientific topics like tectonic movement, rotation of Earth, history of the Solar System with help of storytelling," said Swarup Mandal, project coordinator at Regional Science City. Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak also visited various exhibition stalls put up by leading scientific and research institutions, including CSIR-CIMAP, ISRO-ISTRAC, National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI), Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI), Geological Survey of India (GSI), National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources (NBFGR), ICAR-Indian Sugarcane Research Institute (ISRI), CIPET, National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), King George Medical University (KGMU) and other participating organisations. Later, he interacted with scientists, students, and volunteers and appreciated the efforts made to present complex scientific concepts in an engaging and accessible manner. Nandini Harinath, Deputy Director, ISRO-ISTRAC who was present on the occasion highlighted the importance of innovation and creativity in science education and described the KOS facility as an excellent example of creative scientific communication.
