Agra, Aug. 20 -- A case has been registered against three named individuals, including Congress's Agra city unit president Amit Singh, in connection with a protest staged outside the parental residence of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar in Vijay Nagar locality of Agra on Monday. Assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Akshay Mahadik informed that the case was filed under Sections 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 132 (criminal force against a public servant), and 191 (rioting) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The three accused include Amit Singh, Geeta Singh (vice president and woman activist), and former city unit president Ashwini Jain. "The protest was completely peaceful, and Agra police are being unjust by registering a case of rioting against us," said Amit Singh. The protest took place a day after the Election Commission responded to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's allegation of vote tampering. Congress workers gathered outside the parental home of CEC Gyanesh Kumar in Vijay Nagar, carrying placards and shouting slogans. However, police claimed the protestors were stopped before reaching the residence. Hariparvat police station in-charge Pradeep Kumar Tripathi confirmed that protestors were not allowed to reach the CEC's parental home."It was a pre-announced protest. The police tried to stop us, but we raised slogans and attempted to proceed," said Amit Singh. He added that the CEC's parents were not present at the time of the protest....
