Cong voices anger over cancellation of Varanasi event
Varanasi, Sept. 28 -- Congress leaders on Saturday accused the BJP of interfering with their 'Voter Rights Conference' at Paradkar Bhavan, Maidagin, claiming the event was cancelled due to the ruling party's panic over allegations of vote theft. The conference, scheduled for Saturday, was to feature Congress national spokesperson Supriya Shrinate addressing the public.
Congress spokesperson Sanjeev Singh said the cancellation reflects the BJP's attempt to suppress democratic voices and hide vote-related irregularities. Varanasi city unit president Raghavendra Choubey added that the BJP's reaction shows panic, asserting, "If Congress never feared the British, it would not fear the BJP."
Other leaders, including Anil Srivastava and the district unit women's Congress president Aradhana Yadav, raised concerns about the suppression of democratic voices, rising inflation, and growing oppression of women. Former district president Praja Nath Sharma alleged the BJP's direct involvement in cancelling the event and warned that it would strengthen Congress's struggle.
Responding to the allegations, Kashi region BJP OBC Morcha vice president Somnath Vishwakarma called the claims baseless.
Meanwhile, speaking at a different venue in the city, Supriya Shrinate pointed out the need to safeguard citizens' voting rights, while also highlighting issues like unemployment and inflation....
