Jaipur, May 20 -- A Congress delegate on Monday submitted a memorandum to governor Haribhau Bagade, in connection with three-year imprisonment awarded to BJP MLA from Anta Kanwar Lal Meena for threatening a government servant at gunpoint, urging him to not reduce his sentence. The delegate said the request was made after learning that Meena had appealed for a relaxation of his punishment. "Rajasthan high court sentenced Meena on May 1. He applied for a special leave petition in the Supreme Court which was also rejected on May 7. The SC also had ordered him to surrender by May 14. But, we have learnt that he appealed to the governor to relax his punishment by using a special political influence under paragraph 161 of the Constitution. We request you to ensure that such a criminal like Meena doesn't get any relaxation,"memorandum read. htc...
