Haridwar, Dec. 25 -- State Congress leaders on Wednesday staged a protest at Devpura-Maharaja Agrasen Square and demanded a high-level probe into the audio clip linked to the 2022 Pauri receptionist murder case. Meanwhile, former BJP Haridwar MP, Suresh Rathore on Tuesday rejected the authenticity of the clip and has demanded a forensic investigation and lodged a police complaint, alleging a conspiracy to defame him. The Pauri receptionist murder case, which sparked statewide protests last year, involved the killing of a 19-year-old employee at a resort near Rishikesh owned by former BJP leader Pulkit Arya, son of then-minister Vinod Arya. The latest controversy erupted after an audio clip surfaced on social media allegedly featuring conversations between a "VIP" and persons linked to the case. Congress Mahanagar unit president Aman Garg said, "Congress has been quite vocal in demanding justice for the deceased's family. We will again take to the streets if such leaders are not subjected to legal action." Former Congress MP Pradeep Tamta alleged that the government had deliberately avoided a CBI probe. "It's quite serious that the said audio clip involves people with a BJP background. Congress has consistently demanded a CBI probe into this case, but the BJP state government has been avoiding it... why? The answer lies in the audio clip - to save the leader whose name is coming forward," he said. The UKD also launched an attack on the ruling BJP. "Phone recording has again exposed the criminal nexus and face of many a BJP leader. CM Pushkar Singh Dhami claims woman empowerment and girl child safety, but in reality his own party leaders are involved in many such acts. BJP's dual face has been exposed by the Pauri receptionist girl murder case and CM Dhami should resign on moral grounds," said UKD general secretary Kiran Rawat. Rathore, who was expelled from the BJP earlier this year, filed a complaint at the Jwalapur police station on Tuesday, demanding that authorities conduct a detailed technical and forensic analysis of the clip to determine its authenticity. "I am shocked over the fake audio clip which is maligning my social and political image. A detailed technical, forensic probe should be carried out in this regard. I am ready to face any consequences if evidence against me emerges during the investigation and would face any legal probe as per law if found guilty," said Rathore....
