GORAKHPUR, Aug. 24 -- Referring to recent textbook revisions, Congress MP Kishori Lal Sharma on Saturday said omitting real heroes of the Indian National Movement from history would foster hatred instead of reflecting true India and understanding. He emphasised that history should not be used as a political weapon. Sharma arrived in Gorakhpur as part of the Jai Hind Yatra on the 83rd anniversary of the August Kranti. He paid tribute to those who sacrificed their lives during the Chauri Chaura incident and others who participated in the freedom struggle. Speaking to the media at the Circuit House, Sharma said, "The Congress fought for freedom along with the people of India, and it remains our responsibility to preserve this freedom with the cooperation of the people."
