New Delhi, Dec. 7 -- The Congress party on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the Union government and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) over the withdrawal of Flight Duty Time Limitation (FDTL) norms, questioning why the regulator failed to enforce the guidelines that had been issued as early as 2024. The opposition party also raised concerns over the massive electoral bond purchases made by IndiGo's parent company, linking them to what it described as the "airline's overwhelming dominance in the Indian aviation market". Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Congress MP Sasikanth Senthil said, "Over the last few days, India has witnessed the worst aviation meltdown in its history. Thousands//hundreds of flights have been cancelled, with more than 850 cancellations even today, leaving countless passengers stranded across the country." Senthil said the aviation sector had two full years to prepare for the new FDTL rules.
