Dehradun, July 20 -- Union home minister Amit Shah said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi allocated 4.25 times more funds to Uttarakhand between 2014 and 2024 than what the Congress government provided during its tenure from 2004 to 2014. "From 2004 to 2014, the Congress government gave Rs.53,000 crore to Uttarakhand, whereas Prime Minister Modi allocated Rs.1.86 lakh crore between 2014 and 2024....that's 3.5 times more," he said. "In addition, Rs.31,000 crore was allocated for roads, Rs.40,000 crore for railways, and Rs.100 crore for airports. If you add it all up, the BJP government has given more than 4.25 times the amount given by Congress." Shah added, "I want to tell the Congress to stop disrupting the state's development... don't throw bones into the sacred fire. Otherwise, you won't be visible even with a telescope. When the state is progressing, it is the responsibility of every political party to support its development." He was addressing an event in Rudrapur of US Nagar district to mark the grounding of investment of Rs.1 lakh crore under Global Investors Summit. "Bringing investment to hill states is as challenging as climbing a mountain, but Dhami has broken all such notions. With an investment of Rs.1 lakh crore now coming into Uttarakhand, over 81,000 jobs have been created. I would like to extend my congratulations to Dhami and his team...," he said. He said, "CM Dhami struck a balance between industrial development and environmental preservation. He has worked towards ensuring sustainable employment. With transparency in policies, speed in implementation, and foresight in vision, he has laid out a comprehensive road map for the overall development of Uttarakhand." Shah said when people of the state were struggling for the creation of Uttarakhand, the Congress committed atrocities against the movement's supporters. "It was the leader of the BJP and the then Prime Minister, the late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who made the formation of Uttarakhand a reality," he said. "Atal ji created three new states, and today all three are progressing. Atal ji laid their foundation, and now Modi ji is shaping their future. Modi ji has outlined a road map for development across the country, with records being set in several sectors. "In the last 10 years, the length of national highways has increased by 60% under the Narendra Modi government. Around 8 lakh kilometres of new roads have been constructed in rural areas. Vande Bharat trains have reached 333 districts, 45,000km of railway lines have been electrified, 88 new airports have been built, and inland waterway cargo has seen an 11-fold increase," he said. "Atal ji left the country's economy ranked 11th, and in just 10 years, Modi ji has brought it to the fourth position. By 2027, India will become the world's third-largest economy." He said there was a time when it was believed that infrastructure and industrial development could not lead to the welfare of the poor but Prime Minister Narendra Modi has broken this myth. "Food security has been ensured by providing 5kg of free food grains to 80 crore poor people. Medical and hospital expenses up to Rs.5 lakh have been covered for 55 crore citizens. For the first time since Independence, tap water has reached 16 crore households, toilets have been provided in 12 crore homes, LPG cylinders have been delivered to 13 crore households, electricity has reached 3 crore homes, and 4 crore people have been given houses...all under the BJP-led Narendra Modi government," Shah said. He said that 25 crore poor people have been lifted above the poverty line. "Modi ji has envisioned a Developed India by 2047. A developed India is not possible without a developed Uttarakhand. True development cannot happen until smaller states progress. That is why the central government has given special focus to the development of smaller and eastern states. "When a state like Uttarakhand is home to one Jyotirlinga, three Shakti Peeths, the Char Dham, Panch Prayag, Panch Kedar, and Sapt Badri, nothing can stop its development," he said "CM Dhami has introduced policies focused on the state's development, rolled out the red carpet for industries, ensured transparency, and strengthened law and order. Today, tourists visit the state throughout the year," Shah added. He said that some activists tried to obstruct the construction of the all-weather Char Dham road, but PM Modi ensured that the all-weather road reached the Char Dham. Responding to Shah's comments, Suryakant Dhasmana, state Congress vice president, said, "It's merely a numbers game. As the national budget increases, the proportionate allocation to each state also rises and the same has happened with Uttarakhand. This cannot be used to score brownie points by misleading the public."...
