Computer operator held while accepting bribe
PRAYAGRAJ, Nov. 2 -- A computer operator posted at the Khajua Block Office of the Child Development Project in Fatehpur district, was caught red-handed on Saturday, while accepting a bribe of Rs.15,000. The accused, identified as Pushpendra Singh alias Ankit Singh, was arrested by the vigilance team from Prayagraj following a complaint filed by an Anganwadi worker.
According to officials, Vibha Devi, an Anganwadi worker posted under the Khajua Child Development Project and a resident of Tapni Karera village under Lalouli police station, had lodged a complaint at the SP Vigilance Office in Prayagraj on October 27. In her complaint, she stated that she was entitled to a monthly honorarium of Rs.6,000 and an incentive of Rs.2,000 from September 2021, which was processed through the project office.
Vibha alleged that Pushpendra Singh, who managed the digital records and payment system of the project office on a contractual basis, demanded a bribe of Rs.15,000 to release her pending incentive payment. She claimed that Rs.30,000 had already been credited to her account on April 19, 2025, but the remaining amount was being withheld.
After a confidential inquiry confirmed the allegations, a trap team led by deputy superintendent of police Sanjay Kumar Singh was formed. The team caught Pushpendra Singh on Saturday while he was accepting the bribe at the Khajua Block Office.
Following the arrest, a case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Vigilance Police Station, Prayagraj Sector, officials said....
