LUCKNOW, May 3 -- The Lucknow Municipal Corporation's (LMC) Sampoorna Samadhan Diwas on Friday saw angry citizens confronting officials over unresolved civic issues. Residents alleged negligence, and rude behaviour of the staff in addressing long-pending complaints. Many people said they had approached the LMC over a dozen times without getting any solution to their problems. While the LMC in a press release claimed to have resolved 91 complaints during the camp organised on Friday at the LMC head office in Lalbagh, several issues remained unaddressed. Raj Bahadur Gupta from Anand Lok Colony (Ismailganj-II) said he raised drainage and road problems at least 25 times. "I approached the mayor and the municipal commissioner several times over nine months. Still, the 100-metre stretch of drain in my area is incomplete. Today, they only asked for documents again," he said. Anurag Kumar Pandey of Motijheel Colony (Zone-2) said his mutation request, filed on November 5, 2024, is still pending. "I paid the fee on December 11 and have attended every Samadhan Diwas since. Officials give excuses or misguide me. I was told an objection existed that should've been cleared in a week-but months have passed," he said. Pandey, who suffers from a serious illness, accused officials of misbehaviour. Several residents raised house tax complaints. Piyush Srivastava of Vikas Nagar said his tax jumped from over several years from Rs 219 to over Rs 4,000 without explanation. Rajeshwari Devi from Indira Nagar said her bill increased by Rs 9,500, but officials haven't responded to her complaint. Roop Narayan Tiwari of Ekta Nagar (Zone-6) said LMC overcharged him in 2018 and never adjusted the excess.
