Complainant alleges official apathy, LMC refutes claims
LUCKNOW, Aug. 2 -- A complainant at Lucknow Municipal Corporation's (LMC's) grievance redressal event held on Friday said the civic body had been ignoring his repeated complaints of encroachments on public roads between Bengali Club, Latouche Road and Shivaji Marg here.
The complainant, an octogenarian, said he had been requesting LMC to remove the encroachments for the last three years. On Friday, Anil Kumar Bose, 85, walked with difficulty to Sampoorna Samadhan Diwas organised by LMC and raised the issue of encroachers on public roads in Zone 1.
"I have been submitting complaints regularly. Yet no action was taken. All I got was hollow assurances," he said. He highlighted the difficulties people faced during festivals such as Durga Puja.
Refuting the claims, LMC said in a note to media that the senior citizen's complaints were promptly resolved in the past, too. A similar action was taken on Friday, soon after the matter was brought to the notice of zonal in-charge OP Singh, who visited the spot and got the encroachment removed.
The spot visit came after senior officials sought a report on it.
Additional municipal commissioner and the in-charge of Zone 1 Lalit Kumar earlier said, "I found out about the matter today and ordered the zonal in-charge to submit a report on what kind of encroachments are at the site by Saturday."
Similarly, another complainant, Bahar Ali from Sector 10-B in Vrindavan Yojna (Zone-8), also approached LMC officials during Sampoorna Samadhan Diwas. He said that although a road has been constructed around his house, the absence of a drainage system was troubling him and his family members.
Meanwhile, LMC claimed that this Friday's event was successful, and 109 complaints were recorded....
