Ayodhya, Aug. 2 -- A new fervour is set to take Ayodhya by storm as the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) announced the Ayodhya Premier League - a T-20 tournament on the lines of the Indian Premier League. Eight Uttar Pradesh teams named after rivers of the state are set to clash sometime in October, with the team selection to be conducted by experienced UPCA selectors. Mayor Girish Pati Tripathi and District Cricket Association secretary Mohammad Umer Ahmed shared these details with mediapersons on Friday. Each team will consist of 16 members, including 11 players from the Ayodhya division, while five guest players can be from any district in Uttar Pradesh. Players interested in participating will be able to register online via a dedicated portal (which is under construction). Over the course of the tournament, 29 matches will be played with the victorious team to be awarded approximately Rs 5,00,000 as prize money. All matches are scheduled to take place at the Bhimrao Ambedkar Sports Stadium in Ayodhya. India player Gyanendra Pandey has been appointed as the brand ambassador for the Ayodhya Premier League.
