Lucknow, Jan. 15 -- The intense cold conditions prevailing in the state is likely to abate from Friday, weathermen said, adding that, there would be a rise in morning fog activity. "Due to the drop in night temperatures in most parts of the state, a coldwave prevailing in Western Uttar Pradesh, particularly in Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Aligarh, Moradabad, and Rohilkhand divisions, is expected to continue till the night of January 15 night. There is a possibility of frost in some areas," the IMD said. "Due to the influence of two successive Western Disturbances, a gradual increase of 4 to 6degC in the night temperature of the state is expected over the next 5 to 6 days. This will bring relief from the current cold wave in Western UP from January 15, and an increase in the area and density of fog is expected across the state.
