CMO takes action against two for tampering with post-mortem report
Meerut, June 21 -- Sambhal chief medical officer (CMO) has suspended a pharmacist and terminated the services of a contractual employee at the postmortem house for his alleged involvement in tampering with the postmortem report in the case of murder of a teenage girl here.
The incident occurred in Hemadpur village, located in the Rajpura police station area under Gunnaur tehsil. On May 27, a teenage girl was found hanging from a noose inside her house. While the initial appearance suggested suicide, police investigations revealed the girl had been strangled to death by her father Chandrakesh and brother Dharmendra, who later made it look like suicide.
The family even attempted to falsely implicate the girl's boyfriend and three other individuals in the case. However, on June 9, superintendent of police Krishna Vishnoi exposed the crime as a case of honour killing.
Following the revelations, police arrested the father, brother, one Jaiprakash, and Madhur Arya - a pharmacist posted at Bahjoi Community Health Centre (CHC). Arya is accused of accepting Rs.50,000 bribe to manipulate the postmortem report and conceal the cause of death.
Taking swift action, CMO Dr Tarun Pathak said that pharmacist Madhur Arya has been suspended and a departmental inquiry has been ordered against him. In addition, Yash Sharma, a contractual worker at the postmortem house, has had his services terminated. Both Arya and Sharma have been sent to jail under charges filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act....
