PATNA, Aug. 24 -- In line with the commitments made during the Pragati Yatra, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will formally launch a major power infrastructure modernisation and strengthening project in Patna's urban region on Sunday, according to a press release issued by the Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited on Saturday. The ambitious project, with an estimated cost of Rs.328.52 crore, aims to be completed within 24 months. Under the project, more than 600 km of 33kV, 11kV and low tension distribution lines will be reconductored with covered conductors and gradually taken underground. The plan also includes the construction of four new power substations and several other network strengthening works designed to enhance the reliability and safety of electricity supply in the capital. Once completed, the modernisation is expected to significantly reduce the chances of power outages even during monsoons, storms and other calamities. Consumers will benefit from a more reliable and high-quality power supply with reduced tripping, lower voltage fluctuations, the release added.
