CM Sarma, Borah, Bordoloi in BJP's first list for Assam polls
Guwahati, March 20 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday released its first list of 88 candidates for the Assam Assembly polls, fielding Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma from Jalukbari seat.
The party will be contesting 89 of the total 126 seats in the state leaving 37 to its allies Asom Gana Parishad (26) and Bodoland Peoples Front (11).
"Names of 88 candidates from our party have been included in our list. Candidate for only one constituency, Sissiborgaon, which we will be contesting, has not been decided yet. We will finalize that soon," said Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia.
Congress leaders Pradyut Bordoloi and Bhupen Borah, who recently joined the BJP, will contest from Dispur and Bihpuria, respectively. P6...
