CM reviews situation in distts; train services hit
Jaipur, May 10 -- Rajasthan chief minister Bhajanlal Sharma conducted a review of the situation and took feedback from officers in border districts. Sharma reached the chief minister's officers where he was briefed by the officers about the current situation. He directed the officers to stay alert and ensure proper arrangements in view of the escalating tension with Pakistan.
He will hold a detailed review meeting in the evening with senior officers. Meanwhile, Jaisalmer district collector Pratap Singh has directed drone operators in the districts to deposit their drones to nearest police stations today.
Instructions were given to close markets by 5 pm. Black out will start at 6 pm for a period of 12 hours. Residents have been asked to cover the doors and windows of the houses so that no light is visible.
Hostels and libraries were also closed. On the other hand, the state government transferred 9 sub divisional officers (RAS officers) on Thursday.
Of them, five officers were transferred to vacant posts of SDO in border districts of Ganganagar, Jaialmer, Bikaner and Barmer and two SDOs in Jaisalmer and Bikaner were changed. Two SDO in Nagaur and Sikar districts were also changed
Meanwhile, Indian Railways cancelled several trains operating from Barmer and Jaisalmer. The cancellations are part of precautionary measures following recent drone attacks and heightened military activity along the international border.
According to chief public relations officer of North Western Railway, Shashi Kiran, all passenger trains running between Barmer, Jodhpur, and Munabao were suspended for May 9. This includes the Bhagat Ki Kothi-Barmer and Barmer-Bhagat Ki Kothi trains, as well as both legs of the Munabao-Barmer-Munabao service.
These cancellations are aimed at minimising civilian movement in sensitive zones amid ongoing security operations.
Train services in Jaisalmer have also been affected. The Jaipur-Jaisalmer Express scheduled for May 8 has been curtailed and will now operate only up to Bikaner, with its route beyond that partially cancelled.
The Jaisalmer-Jaipur Express, scheduled for May 9, will originate from Bikaner instead of Jaisalmer, resulting in a cancellation of its journey between Jaisalmer and Bikaner....
