CM opens ICU at SGPGI's Saloni Heart Centre
LUCKNOW, Aug. 19 -- Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday inaugurated the SBI Foundation ICU project at the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI), Lucknow, from his residence. The project will function under the Saloni Heart Centre, a specialised facility dedicated to the treatment of congenital heart diseases in children.
Addressing a gathering on the occasion, the CM highlighted the transformative impact of Saloni Heart Centre. "For a long time, Uttar Pradesh lacked advanced facilities for the treatment of paediatric heart diseases. In this context, the establishment of the Saloni Heart Centre has been a landmark achievement," he said.
"Since its inauguration 18 months ago, the centre has successfully performed more than 300 paediatric heart surgeries. While the first phase is fully operational, work on the second phase is progressing swiftly," the CM added.
Yogi also lauded the efforts of Mili Seth and Himanshu Seth, founders of the Saloni Heart Foundation. He described the centre as a "beacon of hope" for thousands of families and praised it as one of the landmark achievements to emerge from the Global Investors Summit 2023.
Drawing a comparison with the state's success in eradicating encephalitis, the CM emphasised that Uttar Pradesh is now making significant strides in tackling paediatric heart diseases. "With this ICU, we are moving towards building a robust ecosystem for child healthcare in Uttar Pradesh," he added.
SGPGI director Dr RK Dhiman presented an overview of the centre's journey and achievements. Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak, minister of state Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh, along with senior officials from the Saloni Foundation, SBI, SGPGI and the health department were also present on the occasion.
The SBI Foundation extended support of Rs 10 crore, aimed at enhancing the centre's capabilities with state-of-the-art medical equipment and critical care resources....
