Khatima, July 30 -- Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday inaugurated the newly constructed PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya in Khatima, Udham Singh Nagar district, built at a cost of Rs.26.23 crore. Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Dhami said the new facility would benefit children of armed forces, paramilitary personnel, and local residents. "If a Kendriya Vidyalaya had existed here during my student days, I would have studied here myself," he said. The CM said that establishing the school had been one of his key priorities during his tenure as an MLA. "We worked hard to ensure that the students of Khatima don't have to migrate for quality education. The new campus will now serve as a hub for knowledge and overall development," he added. Dhami further said the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is laying a strong foundation for future generations by focusing on holistic, skill-based, and research-driven education. "Uttarakhand was the first state to implement NEP. We've started Balvatika classes in over 5,600 Anganwadi centres across the state," he said. During the event, the CM also planted saplings on the school premises during the ceremony, calling the occasion a "moment of pride" for Khatima and Uttarakhand. He also listed recent development works undertaken in Khatima, including a hi-tech bus stand, modern ITI and Polytechnic College, a 100-bed hospital, a national-level sports stadium, and improved road infrastructure such as the Khatima and Gadarpur bypasses. "We have implemented strict anti-riot and anti-conversion laws. More than 6,500 acres of encroached government land have been cleared, over 200 illegal madrasas sealed, and 500 illegal structures removed. Under 'Operation Kalanemi,' we are taking firm action against those defaming Sanatan Dharma," he added....
