CM Helpline workers protest, demand better salaries
LUCKNOW, April 3 -- More than 200 employees of the Chief Minister's Helpline protested in Lucknow on Thursday, demanding better salaries and timely payment. The demonstration outside Cyber Tower in Gomti Nagar briefly disrupted traffic as protesters refused to go to work.
According to eyewitnesses, several employees reached near Samta Mulak intersection and shouted slogans against the outsourcing agency handling helpline operations, alleging exploitation.
Ravindra, an employee, alleged that they were promised Rs.15,000 per month but received around Rs.7,800, with delayed payments. As the employees moved towards the CM office, authorities asked the group to move to Eco Garden, the designated protest site, after traffic was affected.
Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh Development Systems Corporation Limited (UPDESCO) on Thursday issued a notice to 'We Win Pvt Ltd', directing the company to pay its employees' pending salaries. The state government has hired the agency to run the CM Helpline 1076.
Neha Jain, managing director of UPDESCO, issued a show-cause notice to the firm instructing it to pay employees' salaries and other benefits without delay. In the notice, the agency has been clearly informed that CM Helpline 1076 is an important public service project and any disruption will not be tolerated.
"Any lapse in its operation will be considered serious negligence. This matter has been taken very seriously. If any negligence is found, necessary strict action will be taken against the agency," said Neha Jain....
