MEERUT, July 28 -- A 24-year-old cloth vendor was brutally murdered in broad daylight on Sunday in the forest near Singhpur village under the Parikshitgarh police station area. The victim, Anuj Prajapati, was shot twice - once in the chest and once in the head - while sitting on his motorcycle. He died on the spot. According to police officials, Anuj, a resident of Rahdara village, earned his living by selling clothes door to door on a motorcycle. He left home around 10 am on Sunday to sell clothes in nearby villages. When he reached a forested area about 3.5 kilometers from his village, he was ambushed and fatally shot by unidentified assailants. The incident came to light when passersby spotted the body and informed the police. Officials from Parikshitgarh police station, along with SP Crime Avneesh Kumar, reached the spot and conducted a preliminary investigation before sending the body for post-mortem. SP Crime Avneesh Kumar said, "Preliminary evidence indicates that Anuj was likely stopped by someone he knew. He was still seated on his bike when he was shot. There are no signs of robbery, which strengthens the suspicion that it was a case of revenge killing." So far, the family has not filed a formal complaint. However, police revealed that Anuj had a dispute with his cousins in May, which could potentially be linked to the murder. Investigators are exploring all angles, including personal enmity. "The motive appears to be revenge. A formal case will be registered once the family files a complaint. We are actively investigating the matter and working to identify and arrest the culprits," added SP Kumar....
