DARBHANGA, Sept. 1 -- A video clip, purportedly from Darbhanga airport, which appears to have been recorded from the cockpit of an aircraft and shows an elderly man clad in dhoti and kurta squatting and urinating beside the runway has raised concerns over violations of Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) guidelines. HT could not independently verify the authenticity of the nine-second-long clip Aviation experts have pointed out that the main concern lies in the filming itself. The DGCA's air safety circular prohibits pilots and crew from taking photographs or videos from inside the cockpit, citing past instances where flight controls were left unattended. Airlines were instructed to strictly enforce compliance, while passengers were also barred from filming during boarding and disembarking. The airport director Naveed Nazim, when contacted, said he was not aware of the clip. He explained that photography inside the terminal building at Darbhanga airport attracts a Rs.500 penalty, but stressed that "around the runway, it is strictly prohibited because of the defence airfield's sensitivity". Meanwhile, social media reactions to the clip ranged from outrage to amusement. One user on X remarked, "This is totally unacceptable. This is a breach of privacy." Another commented, "By the way, only a few people are left who still squat and pee."
