Clear, dry weather to persist in state: IMD
Mussoorie, Feb. 18 -- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Dehradun centre forecasts predominantly clear and dry weather across most Uttarakhand districts in the coming days, with light rain and snowfall likely in isolated higher reaches on February 18 and 23.
According to the forecast issued by the IMD, districts including Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh may see very light to light rainfall or snowfall at places above 3,300 metres on February 18 and again on February 23.
A similar pattern is expected on February 19, though precipitation will likely remain confined to higher reaches of Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts.
Most districts should experience clear and dry conditions on February 17, 20, 21 and 22.
IMD Dehradun centre officials said the state endured a prolonged dry spell over the 24-hour period ending at 8:30 am on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. No rainfall, thunderstorms or lightning occurred in any district. The only notable event was moderate surface winds, with speeds up to 30 kmph at the Kosiyakutoli weather station in Nainital, they added.
