Class 12 girl electrocuted in Gorakhpur
GORAKHPUR, Sept. 15 -- A 17-year-old girl died after coming into contact with a high-tension electric wire near her under-construction house in Muglaha locality here on Sunday afternoon, police said. Reports said the victim, a Class 12 student, had gone to the construction site along with her mother Shashibala Maurya, a government school teacher. While looking down from the second floor, the girl inadvertently touched the live wire and suffered an electric shock. She was rushed to a hospital, where she succumbed during treatment. Gorakhnath CO Ravi Kumar Singh said the body had been sent for autopsy.
Expressing anger, local residents demanded that high-tension lines be relocated to prevent similar tragedies.
Executive engineer, UP Power Corporation Limited, Abhishek Kumar said the victim was using a mobile phone near the wire when the incident occurred. He added that officials had initiated the process of providing financial assistance to the grieving family. HTC...
