LUCKNOW, Oct. 12 -- A video of several vendors standing upside down in Ayodhya went viral on Saturday. In the 2.13 minute video that has gone viral, they are purportedly seen standing upside down against a wall inside Ayodhya's Dindayal Park. The vendors were also allegedly beaten by the enforcement team of the Ayodhya Nagar Nigam (ANN). The ANN team took action against street vendors for parking their carts near the park despite repeated warnings against doing so. According to reports, the incident occurred on Friday when the municipal corporation's enforcement team raided the area and detained several street vendors. The vendors were forced to stand upside down against a wall, and some were made to do squats while holding their ears. The incident sparked outrage and prompted mayor Girish Pati Tripathi to order an investigation. The mayor has directed the additional municipal commissioner to probe the matter and submit a report. Tripathi has assured that action will be taken against those found guilty of misconduct. Municipal commissioner Jayendra Kumar said, "I have seen the video and ordered a probe. I will receive the report on Monday, only then action will be taken." "Action against encroachment is necessary, but this inhumane method is completely wrong. The team should have simply issued a challan or seized the goods as per the rules, and not treated the shopkeepers in this manner," the Samajwadi Party said....
