LUCKNOW, Aug. 15 -- Lucknow Police, along with the railway protection force (RPF) and government railway police (GRP), conducted an extensive security-checking drive across the city on Thursday. The move comes ahead of Independence Day celebrations to ensure foolproof security. "Special attention is being given to railway premises, metro corridors, and public gathering spots. Our teams are alert, and all standard security protocols are being followed to ensure a peaceful Independence Day," DCP Crime Kamlesh Dixit said. Security personnel have been stationed at railway stations, bus stands, crowded markets, and metro stations. The operation involved dog squads, bomb disposal units, and anti-sabotage teams to detect suspicious objects or activities and reassure the public. Teams inspected platforms, waiting halls, foot overbridges, and parking areas at key railway stations such as Charbagh and Badshah Nagar.
