LUCKNOW, Feb. 2 -- The India Meteorological Department's Lucknow centre (IMD-Lucknow centre) has issued a yellow alert for Monday, warning of possible rain, thunderstorms and moderate to dense fog in several parts of Uttar Pradesh. Muzaffarnagar recorded the lowest minimum temperature in UP on Sunday at 6.4degC, followed by Hardoi at 6.5degC and Sultanpur at 7.2degC. The minimum temperature in the state capital dipped further during the early hours. The minimum temperature was recorded at 7.6degC, which is 1.4degC below normal. Along with Azamgarh, it was the fourth coldest place in the state. The minimum temperature recorded a day earlier was 8.8degC. Due to a change in winds and increased atmospheric instability caused by these weather systems, the fog layer has thinned, resulting in a significant increase in daytime temperatures in the western and central parts of the state on Sunday. Lucknow recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 24.1degC, said Atul Kumar Singh, a senior scientist at the Lucknow Meteorological office.
