LUCKNOW, July 14 -- Heavy rain and strong winds late Saturday and early Sunday led to extended power outages across Lucknow, highlighting weaknesses in the city's electricity network. Several localities remained without power for over five hours as storm-triggered faults hit multiple feeders and lines. In Fazullaganj, Priyadarshini Power House's main transformer was offline for scheduled maintenance when nearby tree cutting and wire tightening coincided with the storm, prolonging outages in the area. On Saturday night, the 11 KV feeder from New Campus Substation tripped, leaving Krishna Colony, Balaji Enclave, IIM Road, Shalimar, Raipur, Ayushman Wali Gali, and Madhupuram in the dark. By midnight, the electricity supply also stopped in Kranti Nagar and Takrohi (Indira Nagar), while a cable fault disrupted in Nirala Nagar. Power was also out in Purania and Goyal Crossing. High-voltage feeders, such as the 33 KV Dawood Nagar and 132 KV Sahara City lines, also failed during the storm. According to LESA, teams worked through the night to fix faults. A senior official said, "Multiple lines tripped due to tree falls and water entering junctions."...
