Lucknow, May 30 -- Children rescued from the clutches of beggary will be enrolled in schools of basic education department, Lucknow. Additionally, families of such children must be linked to various welfare schemes of the state government for their long-term rehabilitation. In a review of ongoing efforts to eradicate child begging and identify and rehabilitate affected families, officials were directed to ensure admission of rescued kids into schools at the earliest. The need to include eligible children identified in high-risk zones under the Chief Minister's Child Service Scheme (General) or sponsorship programmes to ensure proper benefits reach them, was emphasised. Instructions were also issued to conduct comprehensive surveys of temporary and permanent settlements of families involved in begging and create a structured database. Continuous surveillance through the Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) and Safe City Control Room was stressed to identify and monitor individuals involved in begging. Information about such individuals should be relayed to local police stations via messaging systems for immediate action by police personnel stationed at nearby pick booths. Chairing the meeting, divisional commissioner Roshan Jacob directed officials to carry out rescue operations safely with the assistance of reserved police forces through the respective assistant police commissioners. Regular random visits were also mandated at all identified intersections and hotspots by concerned magistrates and assistant police commissioners to ensure active and effective implementation of the campaign. Key officials in attendance included the Municipal Commissioner, Additional Police Commissioner, Additional District Magistrate (City East), Additional Municipal Commissioner, Project Director (DUDA), Deputy Director of Women Welfare (Lucknow Division), District Probation Officer, Zonal Officer (Zone 3), representatives from voluntary organization Apna Ghar Ashram, and the Child Helpline Coordinator, among others....
